MUMBAI: Global business process management company WNS has picked up nearly 2.70 lakh sq ft commercial space at Hinjewadi in Pune on lease, said two persons familiar with the development.
Total tenure of this lease is five years with rentals set at Rs 58.50 per sq ft a month, taking total rental payout to nearly Rs 19 crore per annum. The deal assumes significance in the backdrop of talks of slower business momentum for software exports amid US protectionist noise.
“While the deal has been in the making for some time, it has been concluded and registered recently,” said one of the persons mentioned above.
It could not be ascertained if the space has been picked up to expand or consolidate operations of any specific centers. WNS has total 18 delivery centers across India. The company has five delivery centers – the most in any Indian city – in Pune alone.
ET’s email query to WNS remained unanswered until the time of going to press. NYSE-listed WNS (Holdings) serves over 350 global clients across industry verticals, including travel, insurance, banking and financial services, retail, shipping and logistics, healthcare, manufacturing and consumer packaged goods.
As of December 2017,the company had 35,657 professionals across 53 delivery centers worldwide including China, Costa Rica, India, Philippines, Poland , Romania, South Africa, Sri Lanka and the US.
